Sing a Song of Muses
March 23, 2004

This past Tuesday at Poetry Corner, Muses Euterpe and Erato were joined by their sisters Clio and Melpomene. They all listened with much delight as Kymer’s budding poets shared some lovely and very humorous poems about the Muses. Muse Melpomene surprised her sisters with her flair for poetry as she shared a lovely poem with all the guests too.

A Muse Tale!
(Sung to the tune of: Oh Susanna!)
by Dezirose

She comes from Kymer County
With a guitar on her knee
She’s going to the Jungle for her
True love for to see.

The moon was bright the night she left
The weather it was calm.
The sun so hot she wiped her brow
Muse Erato don't you sit on down

Oh! Mage Caelum
I hope you wait for me!
I come from Kymer County with a Guitar on my knee.

She had a Dream the other night...
When everything was still...
She thought she saw Mage Caelum
Comin down the hill.

A kettle of tea was in his hand
And a smile on his face.
Says he

I'm comin from the Jungle... Muse Erato So don't you sit now!

Oh! Mage Caelum
I hope you wait for me!
I come from Kymer County with a Guitar on my knee.

She'll soon be in the Jungle
And then she'll look all'around
And when she sees Mage Caelum...

She'll sit upon the ground.

But if she doesn't find him...
Her soft pink heart will surely die,
But even though her heart might be broken...

Never will she cry!!

To Be A Muse
 by Muse Euterpe

I hear the cries
The wailing of emptiness
The longing for thoughts
The hope for inspiration

I see all the white,
Glaring, blank pages.
My heart goes out
To each artist in turn.

A phrase here
A tune there
I watch the creations begin
Melodies to delight
Lyrics to soothe

My work is done.
Joy fills my soul.
I rest

These are Muses
by Trelaina

The epitome of grace,
Beauty and a smile upon their face.
Songs, Stories to share
Flowing white robes they wear

Muse Song
(sung to tune of Beverly Hillbillies)
by wïddlêwãßßït

Come and listen to my story
Of a Muse in blue
Lived in a garden
With Mom and sisters too

Then one day she was
Singing songs for free
When a Mage came
Calling to see what he can see.

Citrine that is
Pretty robes
Jungle star

Well next thing ya know
Clio’s fluffin her hair
Puttin on lipgloss
And wearing red underwear!

Along came Mama
Mad as can be
And sent poor Clio
To a convent by the sea

Boring that is
No Sisters to tickle
Or Mages to smooch
Poor Muse Clio!

Well now Clio ran away
From that convent by the sea
Back to the jungle
Her honey for to see

They live there now
At the end of the maze
With songs and poetry
Filling their days.

We are here to inspire all
And share our culture

The Lovely Muses of Kymer
by Lapz

We have a family of Muses here in Dreamscape,
Oh how much fun they have and all the memories they make!
I love to join in their many activities day in and day out,
And like most, when I have to miss one it makes me wanna pout.

They have many games to attend and play almost to anyone’s liking,
Even if you have never played one before I guarantee you will leave laughing.

They also have quests each month of the year to keep us on our guard,
When we are all done with them, a little crystal is our award!

They enjoy entertaining us and love us entertaining them, and if you watch carefully for in the Weekly Prophet they've caught you on film!

After an hour with us crazy folks, I hear they go back home to sip a hot glass of tea, And without Momma knowing they fall asleep with visions of *certain mages* in their dreams!

We Muses
by Muse Melpomene

We do our chores
Then we have some fun.
We share our laughter
Till the day is done.

MUSE MISADVENTURE
by Marianne G

Mother Muse to an old dear friend went to stay,
And told her Daughters not to spend their time in play,
Said Mother Muse to Daughters all Nine,
Make sure you make productive use of your free time!

Their Mother Mnemosyne off they waved,
All of them promising to behave,
Said Calliope the eldest one,
Don't worry Momma, I'll make sure the work gets done!

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

The Twins Melpomene and Thalia were first to start,
Tragedy and Humour in their Hearts,
Off to the well they went for a drink,
But Poor Melpomene fell over the brink!

Polyhymnia the youngest was not far behind,
Into the Mage Hidden Garden she did try to climb,
Instead of finding their hidden still,
A patch of poison ivy has her scratching her fill.

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

Clio the Scholar went off to explore,
Research she said was what it was for,
At the Bar-L she can be found raising a Glass,
At the Bar-L she can be found raising a Glass,
To the first bar to open in Kymer's Past.

Erato ran off, her chores undone,
To sit and write Love Poetry under the Sun,
On a picnic blanket she can be found,
With MysticRainbow Mage hanging around.

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

It didn't take Terpsichore long to take part,
She danced out of the garden heading for VMart,
She danced away with bargains galore,
It looks like she bought out the store!

Urania was not found to be making her bed,
Cause in it she was found, not even waking to be fed,
It seemed she stayed out late all night long,
Gazing at the stars and writing them songs.

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

Euterpe ran with a rope to the well,
To help her poor sister who fell,
But before she got there she took a wrong turn,
And ended up playing slots trying to learn,

Calliope looked at the dishes still in the sink,
And at the Compost heap started to stink,
No beds were made of that she was sure,
But still she just ran out the door.

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

Urania finally woke up to a bird singing on her sill,
Poking a message it had dropped, after carrying in it's bill,
The Message was from Mother, and how she'd soon be home,
She'd sent the message via the bird, cause the Muses have no phone

Urania had a panic, her sisters she must find,
The house was a mess, not a very good sign,
Asking Avatars if Calliope they had seen,
She found her in the Paint lab contemplating going Green!

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

Calliope took the note in trembling hands,
Of what to do she had no plan!
To gather her sisters she knew she must,
If they heard Mother was coming they wouldn't fuss,

They helped Terpsichore her shopping home bring,
And they Grabbed Clio who on the bar was starting to sing,
Euterpe they found in a betting Frenzy,
Playing Slots and bingo cards on her knee,

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

They used the rope to get the twins up from the well,
Following after Melpomene, Thalia also had fell,
With Urania gathering the rest,
Calliope set them all to do their best!

Making beds and cleaning dishes so fast,
What ever they couldn't clean they shoved into closets last,
Making sure their robes were all cleaned lined up they did,
With A pot of tea on the stove and cookies unhid

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Oh sing a song of fun
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

Mother came home on time, her daughter to see,
All lined up and looking oh so lovely,
They poured her tea and about her journey asked,
And presented her with flowers and a lovely repast.

And how was your time Alone their Mom asked with a wink,
None of you I hope got into trouble or hard drink?
As the Muses all blushed to their roots,
As Mother Muse pointed out the Bingo Card stuck to one's Boot.

(Oh Sing a song of Mischief,
Sing a song of Adventures Bold,
Tell the story in poem and song,
Of Muses unsupervised what can go wrong)

Oh Mother Muse, Calliope Sobbed, I'm sorry to say,
I don't think I did a good job, the others got away,
Now don't you Fret Daughter, said the Prophetess
I know what it's like to be young and full of zest.

I am the Goddess of Memory, of that you can be sure,
And in my childhood, I was never a bore,
So enjoy the time of freedom this week you had,
For I'm sure my well bred Daughters would never be truly Bad.

So when you see the Muses Giggle with Glee
Remember the week they had when they were all free,
To do as they would without Mother to scold,
These Muse Ladies truly are bold!

Our Muses
 by Margo

What can be said about these 9 lovelies and their Mother
They entertain us daily, with something or other
We read the paper, we get a mask; we play a game and get a gift
They read us poetry, to give our hearts a huge lift.

We have in lavender, Calliope of Epic poetry
In light blue is Clio, our Muse of History
Valentine Pink is our Erato, the Muse of Love poetry,
Aqua for Euterpe, with her Lyric Poetry

Bright Melpomene in yellow, is for Tragedy I'm told
Singing songs to the gods, is Polyhymnia in gold
Our dancing Muse is Terpsichore, all in beautiful RED
While Thalia in green reviews her comedies in bed,
Urania in black, our astronomer with stars in her head.

Mother is Mother, dark blue like the sky above
Who watches her daughters with lots of love.
We love these colorful ladies, with all our hearts
And hope they stay forever, and never depart.

In case we have forgotten, I will remind you today
Our Mothers name means memory so be careful what you say.

So many times I would die for thee
Or walk the deserts farther than the eye can see
But what dost thou really want from me?
To be lesser than I could ever be?

Could I ever really be the one?
To be there when all things are said and done?
To be by thy side in the setting sun?
Or shall I remain in the shadow till time for thy fun?

Only the heavens know of my love
‘Twas a secret I once whispered to a dove
But now thou shall know what I dream of
Thy pleasure is all that matters, there is nothing above

Please join Muses Euterpe and Erato for Poetry Corner next Tuesday, 10:00AM WA time in Theatre View as they look forward to hearing poems with a Springtime Theme.
