Kiss of the Undead
by Tommi Knocker recited by Oracle Daphne
On a chill autumn night
In a time long ago,
Soft silver moonlight
Set the landscape aglow.
--
I awoke, my mind clear,
As a voice called my name,
Not a voice I could hear,
But a voice, all the same.
--
A more beautiful sound
I had not ever known,
My whole being was bound
To that hypnotic tone.
--
The household was sleeping
As my feet touched the floor,
And silently creeping
I slipped out the door.
--
Thru the garden I stole,
To the path thru the wood,
Being pulled toward the knoll
Where the dark castle stood.
--
The shadows danced eerily,
Strange sounds filled my head;
As the trees creaked wearily
Like moans of the dead.
--
My knees were aquiver
And my heart clutched in fear,
I started to shiver
As I sensed someone near.
--
In an instant, a chill
That I felt to the bone;
All around me went still;
I stood frozen, alone.
--
A shadow moved toward me,
It was blacker than black;
I was desperate to flee
But some force held me back.
--
In the swirling shadow
I saw teeth flashing white,
Felt warm crimson blood flow
At the sting of the bite.
--
Now I walk thru the night
Down the hallways of time;
Seeking warm necks to bite
For that liquid sublime.
--
Come walk with me ever
In the mists of the night;
I offer forever
As the gift of the bite.
--
So come take my hand, dear,
Put aside your dread;
There's no reason to fear
The kiss of the undead.
