Holiday Recipes

December 21, 2008

I was able to gather many wonderful recipes at the Tea Party held this weekend.  I got so carried away with copying them down that I failed to paint a picture of all of my guests.  Here are a few recipes that you may want to try out this holiday season or anytime of year.

Christmas Punch
from lil me

You need a quart of Pineapple juice
package of Lime kool aid
quart of lime sherbet
2 litre's of Ginger ale
Mix it all in a bowl except the sherbet
if you don't like lime you can substitute with Raspberry
when you pour into each punch glass add a spoon of your choice of sherbet

Peppermint Cheese Ball
from MsSlick

1-package of cream cheese, 1lb of Velveeta cheese, lb of mild cheddar
cream them all together
then chop ,1/2cup of chives, 1 cup of chopped walnuts and pecans ,and 2 cups of crushed peppermint candy and mix it all together and form a ball
stick whole peppermint in the top and on the sides

Black Forest Cake

from DUSTY

use a single layer cake mix but put it in 2 pans
so it comes out thin
and after cake cools get a can of chilled low sugar cherry pie filling
divide in half
use sugar free cool whip
and put in a decorator
then make a shell with the cool whip on the bottom layer
add half the filling
put 2nd layer on
ice the sides together with cool whip
then make a ring on the top with the rest of the cool whip
and the remaining cherry filling and sprinkle with chocolate shavings
and freeze it

Mexican Wheels

from ~Journay~

Cream cheese in a bowl
with green chilies
black olive
chives
and a little sour cream
to make blending easier

take out and cut into 1inch wheel
serve with salsa

Coconut Macaroons

from Lady Cottington

5 1/3 cup angel flake coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
now all you do is combine and mix well.
I use about 1 teaspoon to drop them
1 inch apart on greased or lined cookie sheet
then you decorate with all kinds of things
maraschino cherries or sprinkles or colored sugar
cook at 350 F.
for 10 - 12 minutes
or until lightly browned
makes about 5 dozen

Bourbon - Glazed Ham
from Criss

1 (5 pound) boneless ham
1/3 cup bourbon whiskey
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple in juice
1/2 cup honey
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups water
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple rings

Score the surface of the ham, making diamond shapes about 1/2-inch deep. Place the ham in a large, reseal able bag. Add the bourbon, brown sugar, crushed pineapple, honey, and garlic to the bag; refrigerate at least 8 hours, turning the bag over several times Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Transfer the ham and marinade to a large baking dish; pour the water into the dish. Attach the pineapple rings around the surface of the ham with toothpicks.
Bake in preheated oven until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (95 degrees C), basting occasionally with the sauce in the pan, 90 to 105 minutes.

Ham Roll Ups
from Kristee

take a thin slice of deli ham and spread with cream cheese then top with an asparagus spear and roll it up and cut into bite size pieces

By this point I had run out of paper to make notes!  Each person who visited and shared a favorite recipe or dish received a lovely aqua Canister Set and wishes for a Merry Kringle!
