Legend tells us that the Greek god
Zeus fathered the nine muses by the Titian goddess of memory,
Mnemosyne, in order to create beings who were capable of ensuring the
survival of inspired creativity by infusing mortals and immortals with
abundant gifts and talents.
Mnemosyne had many gifts of her
own; memory, recollection, creativity, imagination, innovation and
originality. She passed these on to her daughters, and then
raised them in such a way as to make sure that their inherent beauty,
gifts, and talents were well developed.
Far away in their home in a
beautiful valley, Mnemosyne and her daughters heard the calls from the
citizens of Phantasus, crying out for help in developing their
creative gifts. In February of 2001, this call was answered when
Prophetess Mnemosyne and a few of her daughters made the long journey
through the mountains and came to live in the Theater garden.
During the following months the remainder of the nine Muses followed
the path to join their mother and sisters until the entire family was
reunited in the garden.
Prophetess Mnemosyne can be
found strolling through the rose gardens, or helping her daughters to
plan interactive forms of entertainment for the avatars who live on
the island of Kymer. She is always interested in hearing the
ideas and thoughts of those who visit her in the Theater locales, and
encourages all of the citizens of Phantasus to seek out the
companionship of the Muses of Kymer.
