Sing! Sing! Sing!

March 4, 2008

Greetings and welcome to the merry merry month of ... March! And what better way to usher it in than with a song. If nothing else, we can hope that my singing voice will scare off the mishcievous snow gremlins that seem to be toying with so many of you in the Real World. From what you are telling us, said snow gremlins are vying with the Crash Family for first place on the Parlour unpopularity list.

Erato, Thalia, Lil' DD, Britney, Lil WsBabe, Dest!ny, Brittany of narnia, Des, Mindy, Damo, ~*DustyRose of Narnia*~, Ræÿñä, Onyxar, Myke & WsBabe

We played two rounds of Trubble Clef on Tuesday night. The first was the standard version, where each guest sings a line of a song that contains any word from a song lyric sung by the previous player.

Beginning with "Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly", our guests picked up the melody and ran with it to the tune(s) of:

"Fly" me to the moon
"Moon" river
Swim across the "river" to prove I'm a man
I saw across the "river" a good looking man swimming (Mother no doubt removed that one from our collection)
rollin on the "river" proud Mary
"Mary" in the morning
"Mary" did you know that your baby boy was lord of all creation
"Mary" had a little lamb<G>
I "had" a dream a wonderful dream Papa
"Papa" was a rolling stone <jump>
"Rollin'" on the river
They say that dreams are like a "river"
Sweet "Dreams" are made for these

For the second round, we chose a "Weather" theme, but eliminated the requirement to use a word from the previous song lyric. Sister Erato started us off beautifully with "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" and the rest of us followed in turn with:

Everyone knows it's Windy
Raindrops on roses whiskers on kittens
Rain drop fall out of the sky
Stormy Weather on the horizon
Oh stormy bring back those sunny days
Rain storm make all the flower look pretty and make it grow
Let it snow let it snow let it snow (... But please not for Easter ...)
Frosty the Snow man was a jolly happy soul (...And we hope he is ready to jolly well hibernate for the next six months too!)
And when the rain begins to fall I'll be the sunshine in your life you know that we can have it all and everything will be alright
Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain tellin' me...
Singing in the rain I'm singing in the rain
Singin n' dancin in the rain
Trickle, trickle, splash, splash, tell me how long will this rain last (...If it's as long as the rain at the Paint Lab, it'll be a very long time indeed!)
It's raining men, Hallelujah (... Mother removed that one from our collection as well!)
Blue eyes crying in the rain

Take THAT, snow gremlins! Our jam session came to an end all too quickly of course but we were happy to present each of our guests with Melpy's sunshine yellow Dreaming Pillow and invite one and all to the our next session of Parlour Games in Morpheus Rose Garden East next Tuesday at 4 p.m. - rain or shine!
