| The First
of April, some do say
Melpomene, Thalia, Sadee, Lady Mouse, Pashie, WsBabe, JsBabe and ES (later joined by DUSTY and DD of Narnia) Greetings! My twin Sister Melpomene joined me on Tuesday night for a Parlour in which we bade farewell to March and heralded April's arrival with a round robin (!) of riddles, rhymes and recreation. When asked what sorts of things we associate with April 1st, our guests were quick to respond with things like the Jesters, jokes and pranks, so we chose PRANKS for our first round of AcroMusia with the following results: P rissy-pink The following riddle about a bird who has a special association with April kept our guests guessing for quite a while: In May I sing night and day, However, it is not the robin, blue bird, blue jay, hummingbird, stork, penguin, goose, sparrow, meadow lark, loon or dodo bird (!) but the cuckoo, whose special association with April is that, according to folklore, he starts singing on St. Tiburtius' Day on April 14th. And since, as one of our guests noted, "CUCKOO" was nicely descriptive of anything Jesterish, we chose that word for the next round of AcroMusia in anticipation of the Jesters' April Fools' Day Event. C luck We dedicated this phrase about a spy chicken to Senior Oracle Fupey! Finally, we let April Showers inspire our last tribute to April's arrival with a round of Five & Rhyme: flowers, towers, powers, glowers, sours, cowers & bowers; and the last round of AcroMusia: S pring And on that note, we presented each of our guests with a jar of Clio's Bath Oil and an invitation to return to the Morpheus Rose Garden East next Tuesday at 4 p.m. wat for fun and games in the Parlour. |
