What a Hoot!

April 1, 2008

If you arrived early enough at the Dunk-A-Jester locale in Jester World on Tuesday, April 1st, you would have seen (or indeed been one of) many Diaper Demon lookalikes - making the prospect of maintaining any order in the Parlour for an entire hour somewhat daunting to say the least.

The subsequent transformation of Sister Euterpe and me into tiny Owls quickly made us wise - to the fact that the reason everyone was looking so much "younger" than last week had less to do with the magic of springtime, than with Jesters Diaper Demon and Hootin' Annie on the loose. Hootindeed!

So with that setting of the comedic stage, we launched the game we prepared especially for April Fools' Day - Dunk-A-Parlour Guest.

The Wheel of Fate chooses Mad Gabs for Guinevere, which she adroitly dodges by choosing to spin again.

Players were called down from the cloud individually and invited to take the wine vat "hot seat" while they awaited the fate spun for them on the wheel. They were allowed as many spins as they wished, each spin added to the last one, with the following Muse game-based challenges attached to each total:

1 = Recite an original Haiku.
2 = The Jester's Cat is a(n) ____ cat.
3 = Mad Gabs
4 = Five and Rhyme - Name 5 things that rhyme with your Avie name.
5 = Five and Dime - Name five Jesters.
6 = Rhyme Time - Solve the two-word rhyming phrase.
7 = AcroMusia
8 = Mad Gabs
9 = What's in a Jester Name? - Find as many words as you can in the given Jester name
10 = Free
>10 = Bust! Take off your head and dance.
Yellow dot = One and only one more spin.
Red dot = Player's Choice
Blue dot = Dunk!

A total of 18 funloving guests participated in our April Fools' Day challenge, and most either spun or selected (with a Red dot spin) Five and Dime, Mad Gabs and The Jester's Cat. Although we were not treated to an impromptu headless dance or a chance dunking, it amused us greatly when the occasional guest chose to dunk him/herself just for a lark.

With the completion of their challenge, each guest received Urania's Sweet Dreams pillow chest and a door prize - a special roll of toilet paper, which Muse Euterpe wisely recommmended not be used all in one go <G>.

We extend our thanks to the Jesters for inviting us to participate in their April Fools' Day event at Jester World, and to all our delightful guests for their splendid company in this most memorable hour in the Parlour.

When we are not in Jester World bestowing dunkings (and toilet paper) upon our guests, we can be found every Tuesday at 4 p.m. WAT in the Morpheus Rose Garden East. Do join us!
