Taboo with Thalia

April 4, 2006

Muse Thalia was happy to welcome her Parlour guests, Buttercup, Dandelion, Starhawk, DustyBrat of Narnia, Lady Natali, tugs, Burnout and JsBabe to another fun-filled session of Parlour Games. Her partner, Muse Erato, was away on a special errand for Mother. Thalia recited her weekly limerick to inspire some silliness for their game of Tabooooooooo! (Muse Thalia delights in saying that word!)

Too crowded in a cluster of nine,
The grape bravely jumped from the vine.
That didn't much hurt,
It said with a squirt,
And then let out a little wine.

Our first Taboo letter was C and tugs was “It”. The players asked her questions trying to make her answer with a word beginning with the taboo letter C. She survived a few rounds but Dandelion stumped her with the question, “Yanno those snazzy little rw cars wif da roof dat goes up or down, wot is dat commonly referred ta as, a wot type of car??” tugs used the taboo letter in her answer of “convertible.”

Since Dandelion stumped Tugs, Dandelion became the next “It” victim. Tugs chose the letter B as the next Taboo letter. Dandelion proved resilient until Starhawk stumped her with “What is the name of the veggie that looks like green trees that isn't asparagus?” Dandeion answered “Carrot tops.” There was quite a debate about the color of carrots and carrot tops. However, Starhawk kept her ground that carrot tops are part of orange carrots (not a green veggie) and Dandelion had to relinquish her “It” title.

The Parlour players had fun with many rounds of the game. Burnout was the Taboo champ as he lasted the longest. The taboo letter was B and he wiggled his way out of many questions:

Dustybrat of Narnia: What is the 3 letter word most often said by ghosts to scare peeps?
Burnout: The letter after A followed by oo!
Lady Natali: What is a name of an institution where you make monetary deposits?
Burnout: Credit union
tugs: What is an air -filled circular thing on a string?
Burnout: A helium filled plastic thingie!
Starhawk: When heating and/or cooking something in a fluid state… what do you call it what it's doing, when it’s roiling and bubbling?
Burnout: Steaming and roiling at the liquids gas conversion temperature.
Dandelion: Ok, I'm gettin hungry, so... wot letter of da US alphabet follows A and comes before C?
Burnout: The letter two letters before D.
Buttercup: What is my avis name, not the graphic name or image, but my name that you get when you click on me?
Burnout: (tried a few answers) The same name as the tiny yellow flower with the same name/ranunculaceae is the precise botanical name.
Poor Burnout got “burned” because he used “botanical” in his answer and the taboo letter was B!

Muse Thalia thanked all her most creative players and showed her appreciation by handing out Keen Green and Perfectly Pink flutes.

Please join Muses Erato and Thalia for Parlour Games, every Tuesday at 5:00p.m. where you will always have a fun time!
