It's Taboo!

On Thursday, Muses Thalia and Urania welcomed friends old and new to the Parlour where they were pleased to host a rousing game of Taboo. In this game, a player is first chosen to be “It”. Next, a letter or letters are chosen at random and the object of the game is to try and force “It” to use a word that begins with the taboo letter(s).

For example, if the taboo letter were “L” and the question was “What does a spider have eight of?”, “It” could avoid going out by saying the obvious “legs” and opt for “hairy feet” (which she did!).

We had many rounds over the course of the hour and at one point tried to give “It” a break and make things a little more challenging for the crowd to devise traps when we introduced the “no proper names” rule. However, our players proved they were more than ready for the challenge as the traps they devised became that much more cleverly wrought.
