Planting Alphabet Theatre

April 21, 2005

Greetings all! Muse Thalia here reporting about our wonderful and most comical Parlour Games session. As tradition has it, I started off our game with a wee limerick:

When your toes fall asleep, I suppose
That the blood circulation, it slows.
No, the digits are not dead,
So I call them, instead,
By a term that is apt: "comatose"!
hehehe!

Muse Urania, as our “Play Director” chose Alphabet Theatre, with the scenario as: A garden shop proprietor who cannot bear to part with her plants. The rest must try to convince her to do so, in turn. Charity volunteered to be the owner of the shop. Each player must speak a sentence to try and convince Charity to sell us plants. The twist is player's sentence starts with a word beginning with the letter A. The shop owner comes back with a reply that starts with A and so on down the alphabet.

Muse Urania: Now .. It's your job, players to try to convince her to sell you plants… only she's too fond of them and she doesn't want to part with them <grin>.

House lights dim in the “theatre” and the play begins…

Muse Thalia: A beautiful day to plant flowers! May I please buy a dozen Green ones?
Shopkeeper Charity: Algae has formed on every green one - not a good day to buy green plants!
Lady Devra of Narnia: Because you would sell me a plant, you would brighten my Day and I would love a flat of Daises.
Shopkeeper Charity: Bent daisies? They are all bent. Someone laid the flats on top of each other!
Muse Urania: Crocuses! I must have some crocuses to brighten my garden <jump>
Shopkeeper Charity: Clouds have delayed the crocuses from blooming today!
Muse Calliope: Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers! Do you have any for my garden?
Shopkeeper Charity: Damaged daffodils will not look very nice in your garden... bugs have gotten to them!
MB: everyone would LOVE to have your flowers in our gardens - they are so pretty!
Shopkeeper Charity: Elephants have trampled all through all off my flowers! The circus is in town! Sorry <grin>.
Bunny Wabbit: Freesias would look fine in my flowerbed. Fortyfive plants please.
Shopkeeper Charity: Frost had killed my freesias!
Vireyda: Geraniums have a wonderful scent, may I buy some to freshen my home?
Shopkeeper Charity: Greedy people already bought every last geranium I have!
Muse Thalia: Heavens! How can you NOT sell bent, damaged, elephant trampled flowers to me? They obviously need a good home!
Shopkeeper Charity: Herds of goats ate them, that's why! (Happy goats!)
Muse Thalia: That shopkeep has some hungry critters!
Shopkeeper Charity: Ha ha ah! Yep!
Lady Devra of Narnia: I’m going to cry if you WONT sell me any Roses!!!
Shopkeeper Charity: I can't be held responsible for your insecurities. <react>
Muse Urania: Johnny Jump Ups are my favourite little flowers, couldn't I purchase a spray for Calliope's Robes?
Shopkeeper Charity: Just get them from the house down the street! You can clip them from their garden for free! It might not be legal. <shrug>.
Muse Calliope: King of the Buttercups has ordered me to get him some lovely flowers, please sell me some!
Shopkeeper Charity: Kids dug up all of my flowers before they could bloom, sorry!
MB: Let us please buy your lovely flowers??
Shopkeeper Charity: Ladybugs ate every last one of my lovely flowers!
Bunny Wabbit: My Monbretia has wilted. It’s an emergency. I need more Monbretia please.
Shopkeeper Charity: Men have purchased all of my "whatever you said" for their wives!
Natali: No more excuses, please sell me some flowers
Shopkeeper Charity: No!
Vireyda: Oh my, what beautiful flowers you have. I will take them all!
Shopkeeper Charity: Oh look at the time! My shop is closed! Come back tomorrow!
Lady Devra of Narnia: Please please please...in my dying Breath... I need a lily to hold in my coffin.
Shopkeeper Charity: Paramedics are on their way! I think they will be able to save you!
Muse Thalia: Quick! Look behind you, someone is lurking! (Thalia rescues all these poor flowers and runs away!)
Shopkeeper Charity: Queen Elizabeth got to them first!
Muse Urania: Really now! We only came here because your flowers are famous far and wide. Please honour us by selling us a few... please ... <grin>.
Shopkeeper Charity: Rocks have fallen all over my garden crushing everything. Come back next season!
Muse Calliope: Seriously, you must stay open and sell us all the flowers we need!
Shopkeeper Charity: Shame on you! Don't you know better than to ask me to open on a Holiday!? If you read the VP you would know that it is.
MB: Tulips are so spring like and my garden will be NOTHING without them!
Shopkeeper Charity: Too late, the tulips are all gone for the season!
Bunny Wabbit: Unless you sell me a large bunch of flowers now I will hold my breath until I turn blue!
Shopkeeper Charity: Usually I have one or two large bunches left at this time of day! But they are all gone!
Natali: Very well, if you will not sell me the flowers I shall just take them!
Shopkeeper Charity: Villain! I will call the police then!
(The crowd roars with laughter!)
Vireyda: Waaaaah!! We want flowers! <sigh><sigh>
Shopkeeper Charity: Well get some seeds and plant them yourself! Mine are all sold out!
Muse Thalia: X-tra! X-tra! Read all about it, Shopkeeper Charity's Plant Shop is having a big sale today! I'll take all the greenery please!
Shopkeeper Charity: Xena, Warrior Princess episode 100 was filmed in my shop last night! Everything is a mess, so we are not open today! Sorry!
Bunny Wabbit: Xena in a flower shop?
Shopkeeper Charity: Yes! It was the flower shop episode!
Muse Urania: Your flowers are looking a little wilted anyway. I think the shop down the street has much nicer ones <G>.
Shopkeeper Charity: Yes! They do, run along now!
Lady Devra of Narnia: Zactly what you except to do with this shop if you don’t Sell Flowers?
Shopkeeper Charity: Zillions of people have asked me the same thing! <shrug>

The players roared with “Bravos!” and wild applause for Shopkeeper Charity’s performance. And also for ourselves. Was a wonderful play.

The muses happily showed their appreciation by giving out their gift baskets and everyone had a wonderful time. Our Parlour Players are the most talented group!

Muse Urania announced that next week she will be joining Momma at Poetry Corner and that Muse Erato will co-host Parlour Games with me. We will miss our star-struck Muse Urania and I shall miss teasing her about her snoring, oops! I mean, her “squeaky telescope!” We bade her fond farewell and promised to visit her with creative poetry!

Please join me, Muse Thalia, and Muse Erato next Thursday at 4:00 pm WAT in Morpheus Garden East for another fun-filled time at Parlour Games.
