Faire Play

June 21, 2010

Greetings all! Our special guest in the Parlour on Tuesday was none other the Prophetess Mnemosyne who kindly joined me in Erato's absence.

We decided to tap the rhyming skills of our enthusiastic guests, and play a little game of Five & Rhyme - in which the object was to name five things that rhymed with a given word in 10 seconds.*

And since the Faire was due to start in only a few days, Mother and I chose Faire-themed words with which to challenge them.

Our guests proved that they were more than equal to the challenge. Some easily provided more than the five-word minimum, and some engaged in word play, linking the words to make a humourous sentence.

The one thing that stuck in our Collective Gizzard was a fifth word that rhymes with "Wizard" ... if anyone can think of one (for none of us could do so) please drop by the Parlour and let us know what it is!

In the meantime, I leave it to you to peruse the lists of words our clever guests produced, as follows:

FAIRE
bear, chair, flair, glare, dare, hare

KNIGHT
right flight, sight, might, mite

QUEEN
mean, lean, dean, seen, clean

KING
bing, wing, sing, trying, sling, bring

TENT

HORSE
course, Norse, source, remorse, force

STAGE
mage, sage, rage, age, wage

LANCE

FAVOUR
Savor, Saver, Shaver, Behavior, Paver, Raver, Waver

WIZARD

PRINCE
mince, rinse, since, splints, glints

FOOD
mood, clued, pooed, rood, interlude, attitude

BANNER
nanner, tanner, panner, bananer, fanner

On that note, we gave each of our guests a pair of Teacup Fuzzies of their choice and sent them on their way with an invitation to join us each week in the Parlour (another of those words for which there seem to be no rhymes!) I mean in the Garden (and yet another!) ... well do join us in the Morpheus Rose Garden East every Monday at 4 p.m. WAT where fun is never put on a timer!

* That would be 10 Muse seconds - the kind that never expire
