Why the Willow Weeps

April 5, 2005

Muse Clio started the hour with a delightful story. She told the story "Maon and the Willow", using props of a willow tree, and a harp - both essential subjects of the story. After the story, the group had time for a game. Being inspired by the story, Muse Melpomene thought they should tell their own story about a weeping willow tree.

Lovers Weep

Why does the willow weep, you ask? Is it tears of joy? She sits beside the tree, pondering this. I think the tree is tired. Maybe it's very sad, she thought, of listening to peoples woes. Or maybe she wept because of something else. Where's the boy who played beneath its lonely branches years ago. Perhaps he weeps today, missing the tender voice heard in May, grown up and gone away. On the bark, a scar is marked, a heart with initials of lovers past. Does she ever weep for me?

The End
