Warm Winter Woolens

January 24, 2006

We had a lovely morning at Poetry Hour this week. Sister Melpomene joined us as Muse Terpsichore was indisposed. And of course our many friends from Kymer and Second Kingdom Island. Among those who joined us this morning were; BlooKat, Dandelion, lil luvy, Kjata, bumpsy, Jewelie, TwinklBeri, Timo, Stitcher, Lindy Lou, Spot the Narnian, Lady DustyRose of Narnia, Trelaina, DustyBrat of Narnia, Sandy, and Dipper.

Dandelion began the recitation with an untitled poem.

Roses are red, violets are blue.....
I'm wearin warm winter woolens, are you?

The 'Scapers gather at the Corner I hear,
this cold winter's day, to share some good cheer;
all snuggled up in our woolens to ward off the chill,
while north winds are blowin' at our window sill.
We'll pass round the coffee and scratch a bit too
for woolens will itch be they red green or bloo
and the Muses will come at the top of the hour
their message will ring loud and clear
THANK GOODNESS FOR WARM WINTER WOOLENS THIS YEAR!!

My heart gets heavy my heart gets light...
but never do I loose sight...
the splendor of the new born leaf...
or the brand new butterfly...
whose life is so brief..
so when you feel lonely, sorry or sad,
find comfort in something that makes your soul glad!

TwinklBeri donned a warm woolen sheep hat and demonstrated "Poetry in Motion"
by dancing for us. It was quite entertaining, and she did exhibit great mont ion.
Then Dandelion also donned a sheep hat, and there were two.
"Warm woolies walking" was one of the comments made as we all enjoyed a good laugh.

Warm Winter Woolens
by Sandy

In winter weather whisps of snow
fall softly to the earth below
it makes the world look clean and bright
early in the cold moonlight
*
The bear's asleep throughout the chill
Which saves him from a huge fuel bill
To keep costs down we all depends
upon our warm wint-ter wool-ens.

The End

The Mitten by Trelaina
Inspired by Jan Brett's story

I had lost a little mitten,
but who knew,
it could be home for creatures,
just a few:
*
A mole crawled inside,
*
a rabbit came to hide,
*
Hedgehog wanted warm,
*
Owl crowded in,
*
Badger squeezed it's form,
*
Fox stretched it thin,
*
Bear pushed through,
*
Then the tiniest mouse,
thinking it the perfect house,
pinched in too
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
and it exploded!

The North Wind Doth Blow,
And We Shall Have Snow
And What Will Poor Robin Do Then Poor Thing
He Will Hide In The Barn
To Keep Himself Warm
And Hide His Head Under His Wing
Poor Thing
The End

January sparkles
January's bold
January huffs and puffs
January's cold

It's a cold winter night
and jack frost might bite
so sit by the fire
and listen to the choir.

Our group poem was a continuation of the day's topic, Warm Winter Woolens".

About woolens we spoke...
they make us get broke
so save up your pennys
For that lovely new scarf
Or a stylish warm hat
and don't forget your woolie mittens
so go buy lots of wool to knit pretty woolies
and blankets for the draft that's back
and don't forget the sack
but me wants long johns with a flap!

Our topic for next week shall be dating/sweethearts. It should prove to be very amorous.  Please join us at Theatre View on Tuesday morning at 11pmwat.
