Animals We Have Loved

February 17, 2009

Our lives are richer for having shared them with animals. They come in all sizes and colors. Some live in our homes, some we visit in their natural habitat. Be it a calming purr or cheerful birdsong and sassy squirrel chattering, we have all marveled at their sound.

RENO
by Sunryze

Reno called me mama..
never slept in a cage...
and protected me from white sneakers..
during his Puberty stage...
would cuddle on my chest..
to sit and watch TV...
and only used his cage...
for acts of privacy....
He always said Nigh-Nigh...
when he was ready for bed...
would grab up his blankie,,,
and cover up his head.....
he was just like a child...
stuck at the age of 2...
my perfect little man...
My Umbrella Cockatoo.

SuperTrooper

by DUSTY

Starry night above
Trooper slumbers in his bed
Flower shadows 'round.

He's stargazing up
Alas, from beyond the rainbow
Romping with children.

Trooper will ever be
five years old and free to run
Under summer stars.

My Garfield
by Yukiko-moto

I got me a friend to cuddle at night
He's kinda small but extremely bright
He's even bin on TV a few times
He don't seem to speak he just thinks and mimes
His eyes are as big as two almost full moons
And his grin could easily fill two large rooms
His coats like a tigers, I love every hair
Because if I feel lonely, he'll always be there

Cats
by Muse Urania

Little cats, big cats
fat, small and tall,
Cats live in my cellar, and race down my hall.

They mew softly,
They scrap, and
they howl,
and singing, oh my,
resembles a yeowl.

They cuddle and purr,
when time for a nap,
sheath their claws,
and land on my lap.

They wash and they clean,
'till nary a spot,
is seen on their fur,
(they have quite a lot)!

Cats are special,
In Morpheus' plan,
They amuse and entertain us,
as only cats can.

Our topic for next week is rather difficult to put a name to. It is that special "family-type bond" that doesn't always come just from family members. The closeness that we feel with others who are like minded. Please join us this coming Tuesday for Poetry Corner at Theatre View, 11:00am wat.
