Kites Flying Free

March 7, 2006

Sister Terpsichore and I had such fun at Poetry Corner this week.  The topic was kites, and we shared many high flying poems with our guests. Amoung those who joined us were Trelaina, lil luvy, Jewelie, Tuppence, Dandelion, Stitcher, Lady Dusty Rose of Narnia, Dusty Brat of Narnia, Wasser B. Maus, Starhawk, lullygirl, and bumpsy.  All of our guests received a choice of either my or Sister Terspi's flute.

Trelaina began the morning's recitations with her poem...

Go Fly A Kite!
By Trelaina

Go Fly A Kite!
Get Lost!
Get A Life!
You're Tossed!
I'm Over Yoy!
We're Through!
Kicked to the Curb!
Goodebye!
This is the word,
Go FlYYYYYYYYYYY,
A Kite!

That was not quite what we had in mind, but it did mention Kite
flying.

Kites a Haiku in 2 verses
By Dusty

Sunshine, spring breezes
Rise above the horizon
Kids at heart grab kites.

Azure sky above
Kites floating towards the clouds
Hearts fly away free.

Kites
By Jewelie

The March wind is calling,
"Come fly your kite!"
The wind is blowing
Wih all its might.

The kites are tossing
In the sky.
The wind is calling,
"Come fly up high."

Today is such a lovely day
I only wish that I could say
how beautiful the sparkling flowers are
how bright for you and me
I wonder if you can really see
the lovely day that I do see.

Roses are red, violets are blue,
me loves to fly a kite wiff you!

Untitled
By Dandelion

I fly my kite
Wif all my might!
But da wind blows,
Away my kite goes!
But if da wind does stop,
Da kite goes kerrrr-plop!

Kites
By Starhawk

Bourne aloft on the wind
sailing to and fro
a dancing diamond
with a tail, don't you know?

My RED Kite
By Muse Terspichore

Kites come in many disquises
Different colors, shapes and sizes
But my favorite of all
When I was small
was RED and full of suprises!

Twisting and twirling and dancing on air
I wanted so much to be with it there
Up in the sky
Flying so high
But I was stuck on the ground- it's not fair!

On days when the wind was just right
I would fly it all day
Until Mother would say
"Dear, it's time to call it a night."
The End

Kites
By Jewelie

Five little kites flying high in the sky
Said, "Hi!" to the cloud as it passed by,
Said "Hi!" to the birds, said "Hi!" to the sun,
Said "Hi!" to the airplane--oh what fun!
Then whish went the wind,
And they all took a dive:
One
Two
Three
Four
Five.

Untitled
By Lullygirl

It's a cold blustery day
and my kites gone astray
the wind is very strong
but my string is very long
so I hold my kite
with all my mite.

Ode to a Kite!
By Muse Urania

Oh don't you wish, you could fly on high,
In brightly painted colors?
Skim the clouds, Ride the breeze,
For hours and hours....
Brush the treetops, and nimbly skip,
over rooftops and gables,
Startle the birds in flight...
What fun t'would be,
to be a kite!

Group Poem
by Everyone

I see up on high
A kite in the sky
floating by...
A shift in the wind
can give it a spin
from north to south, east to west.

I hold on tight, giving it my best,
But it puts my strength to the test!
All the colors swirling around,
my kite flies so high, it's the best!
Hold on tight so it don't go a'ground,
Ohhh, to own a Bright, Big, Kite!

Our topic for next week shall be St. Patrick's Day and Green Stuff (which of course shall include Leprechauns, and Pots of Gold, and all things Irish).

Starhawk was so excited at the prospect of next week's topic that she produced a poem for us on the spot!

Little People
By Starhawk

Little people I can't see you,
Are you hiding behind the tree?
Are you hiding behind that bush?
I tripped on a rock, ouch my tush!

Please join us this coming Tuesday for lots of giggles (and serious moments too) at Poetry Corner. 11am WAT at Theatre View in the Muse Gardens.
