Can You Say......Cheese?

March 8, 2005

Mother and Muse Erato were delighted to see many poets from Second Kingdom, attending Poetry Corner this past week. The theme was cheese, and many interesting poems were shared.

Cheese
By: Rufina of Narnia

How do I love cheese let me count the ways
I love cheese with wine in red and white
My soul can sing when feeding on full fat or light
Or the rinds of cheese and Alpine Lace
I love cheese to the level of every day’s most hungry need
By sun and candlelight
I love cheese freely
And adore cheddar <white>
I love cheese purely
As the Gouda I taste
I love cheese with a passion fruit or other produce
Even with some old beef
And with my epicurean faith
I love cheese with a love I seemed to lose with Friends being cancelled
I love cheese with the bread, rolls, and pears of all my life
And if Kraft so chooses
I shall but love cheese better after death

Cheese

Roses are red Violets are blue
Cheese is my Passion and all Dressings Blue!

Eagles
By Pops

I soar
Wings motionless
Tip feathers
Curling ever so slightly
To trim my flight
I gaze
Vision limitless
Tracking my prey below
My food, my life
The thermal,
Which I cannot comprehend
But caress with virtuosity
Falters
With one powerful, measured
Beat of my wings
I regain the glide
Hunger makes itself known again
It is the moment
The wings fold
Gravity swiftly
Takes hold
Plummeting earthward
Talons extended
The rodent, unaware
Scurries about as
A final beating of my wings
Removes all error,
All doubt
On the edge of stability,
I flair at the last possible second
Crash landing into the meal
Crushing talons deep in the flesh
Razor like beak ripping the neck
I give quick unexpected death
Violent but unfeeling
Without remorse

To eat is to survive
The wings work hard now
To regain the sky
And there in the distance
Against the panorama,
I spy my mate,
A vision of Grace
In an endless vista
Homing on our nest
I share my food
I groom her plumes
The meal pursued
Is ravaged
Shredded
Soon we will fly again
For to hunt you must fly
To fly you must eat
To eat you must hunt

I soar
Wings motionless
(We ate it with cheese)

MY FAVORITE CHEESE’S
By Wasser B. Maus

How can such a small wee brain,
Stand the fidgety drooling strain,
To tell the tale of Cheese's sampled,
Hordes of nubbins, wee tails trampled.
The tale is too long for this tiny small square space,
Time better spent chewing upon some awesome Alpine Lace,
Buried in tiny Tilsiter tidbits, smothered deep in beautiful Brie,
Only one thing missing, one necessary thing you see,
To make that plate more perfect, than just the hardened Creams,
Sharing with a friend...Whissssshkerubbbsss and Cheesy Dreams!

Cheese

Pizza, nachos, rice,
Macaroni and veggies too
Cheese does a dish good.

On french-fries or toast
Melted between ham and bread
Best in world tis said!

Cheese!
By A lil bit 'a AntiqueDragon

Cheese, it makes great sammies!
Cheese, it makes great soup!
And when it comes to snackin’ time,
CHEESE is what I'll hoot!
Don't stand behind
Cuz it also makes me TOOT!

Cheddar and Swiss
Tillamook and Gouda
Eat enough cheese
And you'll look like Buddha

Cheese

Cheese has many uses:
To catch mice
Create a sauce for a fondue
Make a sandwich
Tasty snack
A delicious addition to a casserole
A cheesy topping
Chip Dip
Perks up a pizza
Delightful in Omelettes

For breakfast, lunch and dinner
Cheese is delicious!
One could even say it's a winner
With humans, Maus and Mice!

GROUP POEM

String cheese
Soft cheese
Ain’t spring cheese bouncy?
And cheddar sweet
A good aged Swiss I love to eat
But wait Colby can’t be beat
So many choices, whatever shall I choose
I love a good Mozzarella that does ooze....
And blue on salad what a treat
That Philly cream is really neat
And now I can sit and eat
But Parmesan cheese is sure to please
You can use it with ease
And if you crave the creamy kind
NEVER underestimate the power of CHEESE

Please join the Prophetess and Muse Erato, Tuesdays at 11am at Theatre View to share and listen to poems. The theme for next week will be green things.
