All Things Green

March 15, 2005

St Patrick's Day came early to Poetry as Prophetess Mnemosyne and Muse Erato were joined by LindyLou, DustyRose of Narnia, DustyBrat, Joisey Boiy, Cutey Pie, DeLovely, Trelaina and CassinaRose. This week's topic was All Things Green. Many people brought their own poems this week. We hope you enjoy reading their original creations as well as the group poem that completed the hour.

Spring is wonderful
recited by Trelaina. Written by her 8 year old son.

Spring is wonderful
The Flowers are bee full.
The trees are leaf full.
The birds are songful.
I am playful.

DustyBrat

Roses are red
Violets are blue
But it wouldn't be spring
Without green too!

Love is Like A Emerald

A Dedication to Oracle Sharkie and Family
by CassinaRose

Love is like a Emerald, a rare and special Gem
Love is like a Emerald, right through every rift
Through open eye's and open mind it's light is radiant
Through open mind and open eye's a love should be permanent
Love is like a Emerald, a rare and special thing
Love is like a Emerald, your love can make me sing
Honest words straight from the heart
Honest always right from the start

Love is like a Emerald, something that NEVER bends
Love is like a Emerald, thats how I found you my friend!
In times of loss it's never fair
In times of loss you should know I care
Love is like a Emerald, so special it's always clear
No matter what the difference, friends should ALWAYS care!

Joisey Boiy

See the little leprechaun
Dancing on the ground
Teasing all the town's people
That his gold will never be found

Ode to My Sister Thalia
By Muse Erato

I have a dear sister who dresses in green
With a wee tree perched on her head
She loves to play jokes on her sisters
(Although they are never mean)
And recites funny limericks too
She keeps bonbons a plenty, hidden well under her bed!

She tends to keep Mother on her toes
As she does have her mischievous ways
Like the time she "put" a Pan in her pocket
Or the time she was caught with a green Mage
And she does gets tempted with those people 'porters
Oh - but she does have her days!

We all love her very dearly
She's as clever as a fox and witty
Her blonde hair and green eyes all sparkling
She keeps her self looking pretty
As she paints her nails from the juices
From my sweet pink roses!

Thalia my dear, you get funnier every day
But my sisters and Mother would not want you
To be any other way
Remember dear sister, "Green is keen"
And as you like to tell us,
Dream well, dream green!

Cutey Pie

There once was a little green pea
who grew up near a tree
he lived in his pod
in a patch of sod
until I ate him, you see.

Glorious Green
by DustyRose of Narnia

Emerald pine trees
Holly wreaths and spring flowers
Glisten in the sun.

Grass in the meadows
Sprouts in my kitchen garden
All Glorious Green!

All Things Green
Group Poem

Green is a color thats surely to be admired
It's fresh and new and evergreen too
It's the first sign that spring is near
Oh look, I think I just saw a deer!
Flowers blooming in all their glory
Green leprechauns with a pot o' gold
Trees blooming leaves both new and old
It wasn't me stealing the lil ones Gold
cute lil Leprechaun Bold
running in the meadow to hide his gold

I wonder if it holds riches as has been told
I will catch him and not let go
until he leads me to that pot o' gold
You remember, the one with riches that have been told?
brimming, and overflowing with treasure multifold...
Are there emeralds, diamonds and nuggets of gold?
Or coal, dust and other items not sold ?
Is what I wonder as he leads me to the evergreen folds
but alas he's too swift and my feet are cold
A Pan and Faerie dancing a jig!
the Pan is wearing a green wig

So much for riches I'll just settle for his pig
Pork for dinner tonight
Joisey Boiy: but first I'll watch the dancing pair, and sit upon the grass quite near
eating my pork, the best is the rear!
Is that a waltz , they are dancing ?
Or an Irish jig around the green corn beef and cabbage?
Amazing how light on your feet you can be with enough green beer
come dance the jig my dear and celebrate green beer
Alas the time its getting late, and the forest grows dark with night
I must return to the Muse's light a Pan in the dark is rather a FRIGHT!
T'was a lovely day in the green of spring but now is time to say g'night!

Please join Mnemosyne and Erato next week at poetry when the topic will be Farm Animals.
