Spring Animals

March 18, 2008

We had a lovely time talking about young animals that are signs of Spring. Racoons, calfs, puppies, kittens and birds were all brought to remembrance. Thoughts of their antics and sheer life fullnes had us all smiling.

It’s Spring
recited by Muse Erato

Sneaking out behind the dark,
furry shadows soft as sleep
prowl along the moonlit street.
Raccoon robbers!
Clatter! Crash!
Listen to the garbage cans
topple as the gleaming gang
snatch old bones, tea bags, and tins
to munch for midnight snack.

THE HUMMING BIRD

© BrandonOS.OHesse

The rain has stopped,
And daylight delays.
The night is calm;
And anticipates its rays.

As morning breaks through,
Like a deer thru the hedge
She is already found
At a rose petal's edge.

Such a simple life,
Portrayed in such hurry.
Though its all in a day's work;
There is no time for her to worry.

Gathering nectar for food,
Her song she plays loud.
Though merely a result of her flight,
Her song she plays proud!

So the next time you see her,
Don't say a single word.
For you will have just missed
The song of the Humming Bird!

What Robin Told
by George Cooper

How do robins build their nests?
Robin Redbreast told me
First a wisp of yellow hay
In a pretty round they lay;
Then some shreds of downy floss,
Feather, too, and bits of moss,
Woven with a sweet, sweet song,
This way, that way, and across;
That's what Robin told me.

Where do robins hide their nests?
Robin Redbreast told me
Up among the leaves so deep,
Where the sunbeams rarely creep,
Long before the winds are cold,
Long before the leaves are gold,
Bright-eyed stars will peep and see
Baby robins--one, two, three;
That's what Robin told me.

Spring on the farm

by DustyRose of Narnia

Chicks and ducks and lambs
Piglets squeaking in the mud
Spring visits the farm.

Honey bees butterflies
Wings amid the sunny trees
Baby squirrels scurry.

Spring blossoms arrive
Colts frolic in the meadow
Life renews our hearts

On the Farm

by Muse Erato

The rooster crows at dawn's break of day
Chicken cluck and lay their eggs
While all the horses eat their hay

Little pigs roll around in the wet ground
Frisky kittens chase puppy dogs' tails
As the mice scatter and hide, not to be found

It's just another typical day on the farm
where the sun shines bright and life is good
And Mother Natures shows off her charm.

Group Poem

Spring comes out in many sounds,
robins eggs nestle above...
the chirping of the birds sing
songs of a young man's love.

Young baby animals frolic in the hay
and baby goats play king of the mountain on the hay.
I love to be in the sun when the birds are in the sky...
All the meadow heralds spring!
