Yellow is as Yellow Does

March 21, 2006

Poetry Corner was, as always, an entertaining hour. Our topic was Yellow and Spring flowers. As yellow is such a cheerful color, even with a small number, we all felt uplifted and cheery by the end of the hour. Among those spending time with Sister Melpomene and I were bumpsy, Geb, emmee, Tuppence, and tugs4you.

Yellow is the color I wear
Yellow is the color of my hair
Yellow is the sun shining down
Yellow is the brightest color around.

Time to cheer
spring is here
april showers
blooming flowers
fresh clean beginnings

Bumblebees
by Geb

Little tiny bumblebees
In the early morning breeze
Fly over the flowers and the trees
With yellow pollen on your knees...

Little Luvy missed Poetry Hour, but she was so excited to share her poem, that she found me at the Weekly Prophet game and shared it there.

Leprechaun
by lil luvy

Beyond the sprites and faeries..
that linger in the air...
there are some other little creatures...
that linger here and there.

Just below the tall tall trees
where toadstools and mushrooms grow...
there is a guy the size of a pecan...
and he is known as a leprechaun.

He's very fast and crafty...
for he hides a treasure true...
A treasure called a pot of gold...
that he keeps from me and you.

He hides it here he hides it there...
he hides it everywhere...
And just when you thing you've found it...
He's moved it totally elsewhere.

I tell you true...
that if I ever find it...
I will share with you...
and you and you.

Our group poem was indeed short and sweet!

Group Poem

Springtime tulips always shine,
their lovely colors bring smiles...
Easter's coming , weathers fine...
lovely yellow daffodils popping out of the ground,
what lovely colors , fragrance and sound!

Please join Muse Melpomene and Muse Erato next Tuesday at 11am wat in the locale Theatre View for Poetry Corner.

When deciding on a topic for next week, such an array of interesting Spring topics were presented that we decided a Spring Collage would be in order. A Collage is a picture or a presentation made up of many diverse things but with a strong underlying theme; in this case Spring is the theme.
