Chickens, Horses and Pigs....Oh My!

March 22, 2005

Last week at Poetry Corner Mother and Erato shared many poems about
Farm Animals.

Untitled
by Tiger Eyes

Five eggs and five eggs, that makes ten
Sitting on top is the mother hen
crackle, crackle, crackle,
What do I see
Ten fluffy chickens, as yellow as can be<grin>

Untitled
by Margo

Horses, donkeys, cows that moo,
chickens, kittens, piglets too
Fish that swim down in the pond
Ducklings quacking all day long
All these animals you can see
If you go tothe farm with me.

The Farmer's Creed
by Prophetess Mnemosyne

Horses, Sheep and pigs
Lovely animals small and big
All around the farm
They mustn't come to any harm
Food and shelter they need
This is the farmer's creed.

On the Farm
by Muse Erato

The rooster crows at dawn's break of day
Chicken cluck and lay their eggs
While all the horses eat their hay

Little pigs roll around in the wet ground
Frisky kittens chase puppy dogs' tails
As the mice scatter and hide, not to be found

It's just another typical day on the farm
where the sun shines bright and life is good
And Mother Natures shows off her charm

Spring on the Farm
by DustyBrat

Chicks and ducks and lambs,
Piglets squeaking in the mud
Spring visits the barn.

Honeybees, butterflies
Wings amid the sunny trees
Baby squirrels scurry

Spring blossoms arrive
Colts frolic in the meadow
Life renews our hearts!

Group Poem

I can't wait till summer
When all the land is green..
Spring is coming strong and lean
Flowers show its fress colors
The animals all awake from their hibernation
Stretching and looking around at the new beginning
And bees find flowers in the meadow
The sun is warm and gives bright light
Longer days and shorter nights
Happy cows and cute pigs
All basking in the warm sun..
Remind us life renews itsself
Fruit trees blooming, apples and figs
A pen full of slop just for the pigs
Newly planted crops that the farmer hopes to be a bumper
Shoot up all in pretty rows
The farmer beams, as he digs in his toes
Even the bunnies are here, Oh he looks like Thumper
And a plump and proud mother hen
Counts her brood as they scurry about
Exploring the yard with reckless care
Pecking and scratching right by the Mare
Cows to be milked
Eggs to be collected
And fresh berries in the woods
Feeding the horse, brushing him down
Hard work on a farm can sure be found

Please join the Muses again next week for Poetry Corner at Theatre View, 11AM when Mother and Erato will be taking the guests over to Second Kingdom and sharing poems all about Second Kingdom.
