Looking Forward To Spring

January 25, 2005

Joining Prophetess Mnemosyne and Muse Melpomene at this week's poetry session were geddy lee, Dest!ny, Charity, LindyLou, britney, Glory, Tarnsnut, and MickeyA. This week's topic was Why Everyone Was Looking Forward to Spring. Many people brought their own compositions this week.

Untitled by Tarnsnut

Oh I wish spring would come along soon!
I'm tired of living inside from monsoons!
The rain makes me weepy and tired and sad
When spring finally gets here, I'll be smiling and glad!

Spring by Glory

It's Spring! It's Spring! Spring is finally here!
Trees are budding, kittens and puppies mewing,
Snow is melting and flowers blooming!
Oh, I do think this is the best time of year.

Sleep by Dest!ny

Though wakefulness my domain
In sleep I remain
For wakefulness is sleep
One shallow and one deep.

Melpomene then recited a short poem she made but alas she didn't have a title. Tarnsnut suggested a title for Melpomene, which she loved.

Ode to The Senior Snowtizen by Muse Melpomene

I don my winter coat,
Pull my knit cap over my head,
Rubber galoshes over my feet,
Heavy wool mittens cover my hands.
It has taken me an hour
To prepare to go out in this cold
I hope spring gets here
 Before I get too old!

The session ended with a group poem.

It was a cold winter night
and the stars were shining brightly in the sky.
Snow gently fell onto the trees
And powdery snow on the ground,
glistening in the moonlight.

The wind  was blowing  hard.
Shadows grew where pine trees stood,
inside my globe of winter.
A couple played joyfully in the snow,
building a snow family
and making snow angels.

My cup of cocoa filled me with warmth as I gazed at the lovely scene,
reflections of a world of play.
I run and  play with my dog,
that I hold in my lap.... while seated in front of the fire....
in miniature, a lovely realm of make believe.

We should go out to run but it's just too cold
The memories and joy of winter always in my mind
