Memories of May

May 2, 2006

Muse Urania and Muse Melpomene, along with DustyBrat of Narnia, Journalist, Tuppence, pretty n pink, bumpsy, and ~*Lady DustyRose of Narnia*~, had a lovely time at Poetry Corner on Tuesday morning chatting about the month of May. Not many came prepared with a poem, but it was wonderful to hear everyone's memories of May.

New leaves budding forth, the fresh smell and feel of the air, the turquoise blue robin eggs in the nest, the warmth of the sun after many months of cold, jump ropes and kites, warm breezes, the beach, picnics, picking fresh berries, ice cream, and gardening were some of the memories that were discussed.

Haiku in 2 Verses
by Dusty

Showers 'n flowers
May is showing her colors
Spring has love's powers.

Romance, Mother's Day
Warm breezes, children at play
Wishing May would stay.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
May has 'em both
For me and you

A May Memory
by Muse Melpomene

Twas a lovely day
In the month of May
And my Mother said
Go out and play

In the fresh spring air
On a day so fair
You should not be
Cooped up in there!

So I went outside
And I took a ride
On my bicycle
To the bright seaside

But I must admit
That I am not fit
And the exercise
My senses did hit!

I could not smell
I could not tell
If the flowers we saw
Were lilac or bluebells!

My Sisters say
That on the way
Twas an elegant faint
That day in May!

Next week the topic should be showers
We cannot rhyme anymore with flowers
Let's talk about rain
That would be a nice game
To entertain us for hours!

Next week the Poetry Corner gang shall meet in Atlantis to play Wipe Out with Muse Urania and Muse Melpomene. It was decided that at the next regular session, we shall talk about Mother's Day.
