By the Sea, By the Sea, by the Beautiful Sea!

May 3, 2005

On Tuesday, Poetry Corner returned to its usual venue, Theatre View. As Muses Thalia, Urania and the guests were gathering there, who should come galloping into town but TwinklBeri on her noble steed.

tugs4u, Wasser B. Maus, Glory, Charity, TwinklBeri, Muse Urania, Muse Thalia & LindyLou

This prompted two poems:

Roses are Red
by Wasser B. Maus

Roses are Red
Pansies are Pale
Riding over Hill and Dale
until bucked off over the Tail!

Bronco Busting Bunny
Rides along the trail
Galloping through sagebrush
Mesquite in the tail

Once Glory was safely returned by the Crash Family (helped by Muse Thalia’s donning of her special helmet) she treated us to the following:

By the sea....
by Glory

Sittin' by the seaside, on a summer day,
letting the surf was my cares away.
Feeling the fine mist, refresh my skin,
enjoying the warmth, like a child again!
Tis the best place, to relax and play,
letting cares and worries splash away.

This turned our thoughts to the pleasures and delights of the beach. Muse Urania suggested a virtual trip to the sea side by use of rhyming couplets where one and all were invited to provide a starting line, finishing line or both, which proved to be a most delightful diversion as you can see:

Muse Urania: Jellyfish, octopus, urchins and trout
Muse Urania: Next line ..
Muse Thalia: Makes us hungry and shout!
LindyLou: swims so good it makes ya shout

Glory: living creatures under the sea / perform a watery ballet for me

LindyLou: starfish tickling the bottom of my feet
LindyLou: getting to play is sure a nice treat

LindyLou: Sandcastles glisten in the sun’s bright light
TwinklBeri: until the tide comes in and they disappear from sight
(LindyLou: had to kill my castle didn’t ya hahahahahaaa)
Wasser B. Maus: as seagulls and pelicans take airy flight
Charity: Children run and laugh as the light winds sail their kite!

LindyLou: sharks get hungry and need a quick bite
Wasser B. Maus: and not a volunteer in sight
TwinklBeri: me thinks they are gonna have wabbit tonight?

Muse Thalia: The surf is up so polish your boards,
LindyLou: so you can win a surfing award
Muse Urania: Surfing's too chilly in the Nordic Fjords

TwinklBeri: A sea turtle swims by
LindyLou: and stares at the sky
TwinklBeri: giving me the evil eye

Glory: A seahorse galloping across the waves
LindyLou: Twink grabs its reins and gallops away
Glory: and eels scurry in underwater caves

Muse Urania: Barracudas barrel racing all around the buoys
Glory: gleeful laughing of girls and boys

The hour drew all too quickly to a close and as the guests shook the last of the sand out of their assorted toes and paws, we presented each with an appreciation Spring Basket.

Please join us next Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. WAT in the Theatre View when the theme for Poetry Corner is “Mothers”, chosen by our guests in recognition of upcoming Mothers’ Day and the much-anticipated return of the Prophetess from her retreat.
