Baby Animals

May 11, 2010

Greetings friends! Our lovely guests were dressed up and ready for Atlantis! The topic for today's poetry is Baby Animals.

DD of Narnia started us off with her lovely poem...

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I love spring flowers best
Don't You!!!

Lionel Hutz entertained us with a couple of his poems... can you guess what his favorite baby animal is?

"A Poem For New Puppy Owners"

Don't smell crotches, don't eat plants.
Don't steal food or underpants.
Don't eat my socks, don't grab my hair.
Don't rip the stuffing from that chair!
Don't eat those peas! Don't touch that bush!Don't chew my shoes. What IS that mush?
Eat your cookies. Drink your drink,
Outta the toilet! Outta the sink!
Away from the cat box, it's for the cat!
And MUST you kiss me after that?
Yes, raising a puppy, is not for the lazy!
Though puppies are funny, they're also quite crazy.
But don't despair, though its toil and strife.
After three years, you'll get back your life!
So, let's go for "walkies", you can "do your thing"
And perhaps I'll get back my good diamond ring!

This is My Puppy

I love to play, I love to chew
Even on your favorite shoe
My favorite playmate is a cat
For I love it when they scat
I sleep at the foot, of your bed
And not up on, or beside your head;
(my dog does sleep on my head sometimes though..)
My long tail loves to wag
And if my tail is short, then in a zig-zag;
For I am not a wet guppy;
Also know, as dog to be
I am a devoted, loving puppy.

Wasser B. Maus shared a lovely poem with us

Baby Animals
Daisies grow short.
Sunflowers grow tall.
Baby animals love to romp.
And have a BALL!

Lucky Lady shared a poem by Thomas Nashe

Spring sweet Spring
FROM SUMMERS LAST WILL

Spring, the sweet spring, is the years pleasant king
Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a ring,
Cold doth not sting, the pretty birds do sing:
Cookoo, jug,puwee, towiia woo
The palm that make country houses gay,
Lambs frisk and play the shepherds pipe all day
And we hear aye birds tune this merry lay:
Cookoo.jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!
The fields breathe sweet, the daisies kiss our feet,
Young lovers meet, old wives a-sunning sit,
In every street these tunes do greet
Cookoo.jug-jug, pu-we, to-witta-woo!

Timo shared one about kittens,

Cosmo the Kitten

Cosmo the kitten likes to explore
He climbs into baskets, boxes and drawers
Only last week he got stuck in the shed
But Granddad's old shoe made a nice cozy bed
He sneaks into cupboards when Mum isn't looking
He climbed in the fridge when Grandma was cooking!
Inside the chimney, his white fur turned black
So he hid, undiscovered, in the empty coal sack
What a naughty young cat he is to be sure
Yes, Cosmo the kitten loves to explore!

Nia shared a poem with us about new life

Lambs

Its a wondewrful warm day in may,
newborn lambs frisk and play
and hidden deep below the earth
a rabbit has just given birth
whats that I hear,!!! cheep cheep cheep
a dozen chicks under the creep
Ohh what a wonder time off year
When all new life begins too appear.

We finished with a group poem that turned out quite lovely!

Cutest things in all the land are baby animals
They are cute to see and need a cuddle everyday
I love to hug them, what else could I say
Wild spring births are a wonder to see but touch not my babies
they may look cute and cuddly, but beware, they're full of rabies
Love to hold and cuddle kittens and fido babies
Love often and play with much
Babies need lots of Love, and so do us humans (so it is fun to love on them)
and best of all, Whishhkerubbsss are a good way, with them, to touch...
If there ever an animal that has to play, let them feast then they rest
I love to cuddle and squeeze and maul lil baby kitties
and a little panda born in spring feels like a baby on a swing
All these lovely lil baby animals bring us such joy and happiness
