Spring Fever Comes to Poetry

May 24, 2005

Among those joining Muse Urania and Prophetess Mnemosyne at Poetry Corner this week were Trelaina, §håÐõw蚚, King Grid, DestinyDawn, Glory, and @ngelheart. In addition, Muse Calliope appeared as a surprise guest. Spring Fever was abounding in the poems recited by the group. King Grid was gracious enough to recite two poems he had written a few years earlier dedicated to his Grandmother. We hope you enjoy reading them.

Fever for the Sun
by Trelaina

I've got the fever;
the itch to get out in the sun.
It's cold and raining
feels like spring never begun.
Come warmer weather
send this rain on the run.

Spring Fever
by §håÐõw蚚

Spring fever is near
spring fever is here
the flowers & trees
Are as pretty as can be
The blossom in the trees
the flowers on the ground
everywhere you look
spring fever is around!

Fragrant Foods in Flowers

Untitled
by Glory

The bare tree branches are budding,
The air smells fresh and clean,
flowers and grasses ,
everything fresh and green.

Why, it gives me such energy,
I could almost leap to the sky,
the day seems so exemplary,
(I wonder, could I really fly?)

It really must be spring fever,
to set me in such a spin,
Whatever, I certainly am enjoying,
the fever that I am in.

The Story Of My Life
by §håÐõw蚚

Up high in the shadow lands
thats where i lay
living by night
Sleeping by day
the sun is my devil
the moon is my saint
my skin is not toned
my skin is just white
Away from the daylight
moved into the night
This is my way
the story of my life

My Grandma
by King Grid

Fragile
Helpless
Like a bird with a broken Wing
She had arthritis
Cancer took its course
She opened her mouth
but she couldn't speak
She was stuck in a bed
the sheets were white
And she was on
A breathing device

Her hair look like rain clouds
puffy and grey
Her skin looked like a shirt
Recently worn to bed
Her face looked
sad
insecure
and very in doubt

I looked her in the eyes
I saw her pain
I saw her childhood
I saw my grandma and friend

the room was
calm
sad
and full of emotions and memories
my grandpa abused her before he died
he was an alcoholic
she raised 7 children
on her own
I wished
I hoped
I even prayed
that she was playing a joke

I looked at her
I saw a light
she looked like an angel so beautiful and calm
I told her I love you
and took her hand
it started to shake
and I saw a tear
With that tear
I saw a shadow cast on a magnificent life of a
Friend Mother Sister
and to me my grandma

Like Yesterday
by King Grid

Dark Room
White blanket
Please don't go
You can make it
Be like the train
That never could
Be like the rose in Concrete
that never should

I thought it was arthritis
Nobody told me she had cancer
Family is becoming closer
while she is growing sicker
I felt for her
So much pity
Surrounding one small body
in one large city

They shut off the breathing device
There was very little noise
My dad noticed her breathing pattern change
He's the oldest out of 6 other boys and girls
He said its time
And woke everybody up

When they got there
She all of a sudden sat up
She smiled
As if to say its all right
It's ok
There's no need to fight

I know she's watching
I know she's there
I know she loves me
I know she will always care
She will be missed Im glad I told her
I love you
On the 24th of October
Grandma I love you
I will all ways remember this date
as if it were in stone

The hour ended with a group poem about Spring Fever. Please join us next week when the topic will be Summer is Coming !!

Spring Fever

This fever is contagious
I now have its bug
I think all i need right now is a big hug<grin>

The urge to enjoy the sunshine is tremendous
as the mists of winter fade fast, the tulips make themselves known
And if I could take my head out of the clouds
I itch to be out and enjoy the sunshine!
the Breezes are calling me,
brilliant colors, fragrances and textures, of every hue

This bug is just contagious
this weather outrageous
Just look at that sky, what a beautiful color blue
When the sky is like, you must to happy too

Lets celebrate the arrival of spring
with bells that ring
and birds that sing
and every little blooming thing
happiness, freshness and cheer shall bring.
joys and love to make your heart sing
uplifting challenges, still to unfold
The Book of Winter is Now Closed <grin>
