Nienna shared a poem with us about summer
Summer brings us nice warm sun
For swimming, fishing, and lots of fun
For finding seashells in the sand
For sunbathing to get a tan
to do all these things and more
at the beach and sea shore
Laurie SK gave us many ideas for summer
Enjoy the long lazy season of picknics by the river
old fashioned ice cream socials, seaside vacations
parades, flags, fireworks and burgers hot off the grill
in celebration of summer.
Lindy Lou shared her thoughts...
Life would be a bummer if we had not a summer
Things that our friends love about summer...

Melissa shared a poem with us about summer by Shel Silverstein
Tryin' On Clothes
I tried on the farmer's hat,
Didn't fit...
A little too small -- just a bit
Too floppy.
Couldn't get used to it,
Took it off.
Tried on the dancer's shoes,
A little too loose.
Not the kind you could use
For walkin'.
Didn't feel right in 'em,
Kicked 'em off.
I tried on the summer sun,
Felt good.
Nice and warm -- knew it would.
Tried the grass beneath bare feet,
Felt neat.
Finally, finally felt well dressed,
Nature's clothes fit me best.

A little something from dear Maus...
The air is warm and hot and good
the flowers are blooming, just as they should
tis time to play and jump and sing, for it is the law
just like ice cream globs melting down one's paw!
The end <bow>
Circe shared a poem she wrote...
Firefly
Star plummets to earth, ensnared by desire
flung recklessly into the sky,
shatters in a wooded grove, cool fire
droplets on the fly.
Beacons float in silent thrums of light
harboring a wish fulfilled
scattered, blinkered, fragmented flight,
golden cargo spilled
I gather from the wake of stars
bits of promise into jars.
Our group poem was a lovely blend of sunshine...
water in nearby ponds glisten with sun's golden rays
and birds fly high up in the sky
the first sign of fun summer days
park lakes n pools shimmer in the evenings as children's laughter fades
love to dream and watch the birds
warm summer breezes and bright summer sun
Clouds floating with Dreams do abound
Banners sway and bands play preparing for Independence Day!
Fireworks and picnics are part of the fun
and mid summers dreams will be thinking of Fall
God in His wonder never ceases to amaze
His beauty unfolds on a warm summer's day
