The Foods of Summer

July 6, 2010

We did have a most luscious Poetry Corner today. The topic was summer foods, and I am sure we covered almost all of them. There was talk of ice cold water melon, hot dogs, hamburgers, crab salad, tuna salad, potato salad, apple pie, Jello pie, s'mores, creamsicles, fudgesicles, fresh home grown tomatoes, home made (hand cranked) ice cream and huckleberries warm from the sun.

Of course, wonderful memories were served with this mouth watering fare.

There once was a beautiful gopher
Who took a job as a chauffeur
To a rich white bunny
Who squandered her money
And spent it all on rings made of carats.
The End.

Potato Salad
by Wasser B. Maus

The bestest food to eat on a hot summer day,
full of taste and crunchies, kept cool to stay.
Potatoes, celery, onions, and mayo mixed,
add some carrots and mustard then a few licks.
Even some tasty radishes can add some zing,
creamy crunchy Tater Salad will make one SING!
the end

Ode to a lost Fudgesicle
by Muse Urania

I had a friend,
in the far off land of Michigan
In summertime there was much wind
it swirled and it would spin.

Find a dime and' a nickel...
buy a creamy fudgesicle
but be warry...
of the wind that is fickle...
or you shall have a mudsicle.

Please do join us for more fun and fellowship at Poetry Corner this coming Tuesday in Theatre View at 11:00amwat. The topic that was chosen is "pickles" to this we shall be adding Summer Fun (summer activities).
