One day while Cupid was preening and peering at his reflection in a pool of water, daydreaming about how wonderful the world was with him in it to spread the love, along came a Jester.
Jester Hayseed Dixie heard cupid thinking aloud and wanted to spread the love too. So Jester Hayseed Dixie tiptoed toward the rock where Cupid had carelessly left his quiver and grabbed a fistful of arrows before noisily knocking it over and alerting Cupid to her presence.
Cupid jumped up startled and angrily grabbed at the arrows the jester had stolen. The two wrestled back and forth until Hayseed Dixie gave Cupid a little shove, knocking him backwards into the pond and scampering off as quickly as her little feet could carry her.
She came upon a particularly nasty character, Gast, and decided someone should love him. So Jester Hayseed Dixie waited around for some unsuspecting person to wander by.
About an hour and a half later, Lady Songbird SK came by. Jester Hayseed hid and readied her arrow to shoot Lady Songbird, hoping she would fall in love with the terrible Gast and maybe change his ways.
But Lady Songbird heard a noise, quickly turned around and then fell on her nose when she tripped over a stone and the arrow flew over her. Lady Songbird was safe, but if flew right over her head and struck Lady Cottington.
After yelping a very ladylike yelp, she turned and saw Gast standing by a tree. Her eyes turned to little hearts and she was dumbstruck madly in love with the hulking lump named Gast.
Lady Songbird watched in horror as Lady Cottington batted her eyes at him. She jumped in between and tried to stop Lady Cottington to get near to Gast. Thinking fast, Lady Songbird snatched her spell protector off her neck and cast it at her best friend, Lady Cottington hoping she would use it.
Lady Cottington would have not part of it and let it drop on the ground. She ran to Gast and as a sign of her love she gave him lovely aqua clothing to wear.
Lady Songbird was beside herself with worry when a DS Sprite happened by and asked what was the matter and picked up the spell necklace. Frustrated Lady Songbird grabbed the arrow still sticking in Lady Cottington's bum and dragged them both to Fimula Frogsplat.
After knocking on the door Ferula opened it and told them Fimula was not home. She was looking for herbs in the forest and wouldn't be back until evening. But she agreed to casting a sleeping spell on Lady Cottington to keep her from doing anything she would regret later.
Before anyone could cast a spell, Gast looked at his new aqua clothing and shrieked a very angry man-like shriek. He pulled off his cloak and ran off to find a very deep mud hole to swim in not caring in the least Lady Cottington's sad fate.
Meanwhile, Lady Cottington decided to take a walk and found an arm sticking up from the mud hole she passed by. Of course, she couldn't just leave anyone helpless out there, so she decided to help him pull up, without knowing it was the arm of Gast. Lady Cottington tried to pull the mysterious arm up, but the man's weight on her was too much, and she fell into the mud hole herself. Wally the Troll, who also decided to take a walk, saw now two sets of arms sticking out of the mud hole trying to grasp something.
Wally, being a troll and naturally strong, grasped the arms and pulled both to the surface. In doing so he dislodged the arrow still stuck in Lady Cottington. As it flew through the air it struck an unsuspecting innocent cat lounging in a tree. So now Lady Cottington dreams of cats instead of the rascal Gast.
