Signs of Autumn

November 4, 2003

Muse Erato and Muse Euterpe once again braved the Mansion Front Porch to host poetry.  This week it would seem that Kymer's poets thoughts run from the recent thrill of Trick or Treating to the upcoming satisfaction of a tasty Thanksgiving dinner.

The Great Pumpkin

Oh Great Pumpkin I do Implore,
Don't come knocking upon my door!
For if Trick or Treat is your Wish
There is no more candy in my dish!

Faith Dreamer and Hope Dreamer
Skeleton Sisters
By The Dreamer Sisters

We are the Skeletons,
Strong and Stout!
This little song is what we're about
We go door to door,
to plead our case.
And come home with a big Tummy Ache!
We love Halloween,
We think it's a scream!
And our costumes we wear we think are a dream!

Pandy
He Calls To Me

He calls to me across the miles
Night winds carry his whispers
They float on the breeze and through my windows
Falling gently upon my ears
- Hush -
I hear him now.
He calls to me from the heavens
Glittering stars cannot compare to the sparkle of his eyes
When he looks at me, I am consumed by the fire
I see him now.
He calls to me through my dreams
Dancing together in the shadows of my sleep
Where we laugh and love once again
I am in his arms
I feel him now.
He calls to me
Every moment of every day
Distance couldn't keep us apart
When destiny drew us together
I'll hold him for eternity
As long as he keeps calling.

Acolyte Painter Serena
PIE PIE PIE
By Marianne G

Apple, Cherry, Pumpkin Pie,
For a slice or two I try,
But Mother says not to touch,
They're for after dinner, so just hush!

To set the table I am sent,
But even there I catch their scent,
For more forks I do return,
The kitchen is empty cept for what I yearn.

A tiny little sliver I do cut,
Surely for this she'll make no fuss,
Before even in my mouth it goes,
My mother comes back and temper explodes!

Now I have to wait till last,
To get my holiday pie repast,
So if you're ever in this spot,
Just think of me and stop, Stop, STOP!!!

This week Muse Euterpe gave out items she found on the Pirate Ship for inspiration for next week's poems.  Join them at 10:00 am on The Front Porch of the Mansion to hear how creative our poets are.
