Hunts and Quests are a popular addition to events. They run throughout the entire event. This gives members more options for fun things to do even if there isn't a game on the schedule that they would like to play.
There are just a few basic guidelines, so let's get those out of the way first.
Hunts/Quests Guidelines
That is about it for 'rules'.
FAQs
"What if I'd like to have a hunt or a quest, but don't know how to begin?"
If you would like to have a hunt or quest in your event, but don't know how to create one, that isn't a problem. We will be happy to help you. We won't write the hunt or quest for you, but we will work with you and assist you in creating something that reflects your event.
"What if I have an idea, but it's different from what has been done before?"
That is great! We like creativity. If you have an idea for something a bit different, send us an email and tell us about it. We can work with you and see if we can find ways to do what you want.
"What is the difference between clues and banners?"
Clues are items that we will place at various locations inworld and, as the name suggests, will have a clue on them to solving whatever puzzle you have set up for the hunters. The simplest are letter clues which the hunters need to unscramble to form a word or phrase. That word or phrase is usually a turf name or perhaps yet another clue to the location of a door that will lead to where the prize banner is. Hunters simply click on the clue and read what comes up on the menu, or read the TMA if there is information placed there.
Banners are interactive. Some banners will give a handout that the hunters need to collect and show later to get the prize, some will ask questions that the hunters need to answer via a dialog box. There are lots of possibilities.
"If I use items already inworld for my clues, can I use anything that is there?"
We can place clues on the TMA or URL of most items that are inworld with a few exceptions. Things like ATMs, Name Changers, Turf Managers, Vendos, or anything that has another use cannot be used. If an inworld item already uses the URL to point to a web page, that URL or URL tag cannot be used.
"How long before my event do I need to have the hunt or quest ready?"
The best time to start the process is as soon as you have your event approved. If you have an idea, but haven't completed it yet, please email and let us know what you are thinking of. It can save a lot of time and effort if we know in advance what you want, and if it's doable.
The final details should be completed and submitted to us no later than 3 weeks before the event. This gives us time to get everything prepared for you.
If you are creating a hunt turf, it should be completed at least 2 weeks before the event.
